Privacy Policy

AlwaysEdit ("we") lets you mark up documents. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Documents stay on your device by default

When you use AlwaysEdit without an account, your files are opened, converted and annotated entirely in your browser or app. They are stored only on your device (browser storage) and are never uploaded to us.

If you create an account

• Account data: your email address and a salted, hashed password (we never store your password itself).
• Cloud sync (Pro): if your plan includes cloud sync, the documents you open and your annotations are uploaded to our storage provider (Cloudflare) so you can open them on your other devices. You can delete them at any time.
• Saved signature (Pro): an image of the signature you draw.
• Billing: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and a customer ID; we never see or store your card number.
• Teammates (Pro): team name, member emails and roles.
• Security and error logs: IP-based rate-limit counters (short-lived) and technical error messages, which never include document contents.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your documents to train AI models. We don't read your documents except when you explicitly ask for support with one.

Your choices

• Download your data: Account → Download my data.
• Delete your account: Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your account, cloud documents and signature and cancels your subscription.
• Local documents can be deleted from the home screen.

Sub-processors

Cloudflare (hosting, database, storage), Stripe (payments), and, if enabled, an email delivery provider for password resets and team invites.

Sensitive documents

Onboarding forms can contain sensitive personal data (e.g. Social Security numbers). Free/local use never leaves your device. If you use cloud sync, data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our storage provider. Do not use AlwaysEdit for data you are not permitted to store with third-party processors.

Children

AlwaysEdit is not directed at children under 13.
